Rodney J. “Rocky” Adams, a retired insurance company executive, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at Normandy Farms in Blue Bell, at the age of 76.  He was the husband of Doris L. (Lauber) Adams.  Mr. Adams, formerly of Kulpsville and Norristown, resided at Normandy Farms for the past four years.  Born in McKeesport on Feb. 17, 1928, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Tomko) Adams.  He was a graduate of McKeesport High School and the University of Pennsylvania, where he played football from 1945 to 1949. He had been employed as vice President of Transportation Mutual Insurance Company of the Mather Company.  Mr. Adams was a former member and choir member of St. Patrick’s Church in Norristown and a former member of Visitation B.V.M. Church of Trooper. He was an avid football fan and also enjoyed bowling. Mr. Adams was a former member of the Whitemarsh Players. Mr. Adams served as a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean War, and was awarded the Bronze Star.  Besides his wife, surviving are three daughters, Karen Bordlemay, and her husband, Tom, of Hatfield, Gwen T. Cresswell, and her husband, James, of Phoenixville, Carol L. Cassano, and her husband, James, of New Hanover, Pa.; three step children, Thomas Murphy, and his wife, Susan, of New York, colleen Stapp, and her husband, Andrew, of Hatfield, and D. Wayne Murphy of New Jersey; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; seven step grandchildren; and one step great grandchild. His first wife, Sylvia “Bobbie” Adams, preceded him in death in 1996. 
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 AM Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, from Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main St., Lansdale.  Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting. Friends may call from 7-8:30 PM Wednesday at the R.L. Williams, Jr. Funeral Home, Skippack Pike @ Cedars Road, Skippack and from 10-11 AM Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be sent to Samaritan Care Hospice of Pennsylvania, 6198 Butler Pike, Suite 275, Blue Bell, PA 19442 or to the American Diabetes Association, One Plymouth Meeting Mall, Suite 520, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
